Supabase statistics (2026)

The numbers people look up when they write about Supabase: how much it has raised, how many developers and databases it has, how it shows up in surveys and on npm, and what each plan includes, backups included. Each one comes from Supabase's own pages or from the outlet that reported it.

54 statistics, each linked to its original source. Last verified October 17, 2026.

  • Not included

Free-plan projects get no access to automatic backups: Supabase's pricing page lists them as "Not included" on Free, and its docs advise free projects to "regularly export their data using the Supabase CLI db dump command and maintain off-site backups."

Plans and pricing

As listed on Supabase's pricing page on October 17, 2026.

  • 500 MB

500 MB is the database size on Supabase's Free plan, which allows 2 active projects and pauses projects after 1 week of inactivity.

Source: Supabase, “Pricing”, as of October 17, 2026

  • $25/month

$25/month is the starting price of Supabase Pro; Team starts at $599/month and Enterprise is custom-priced.

Backups and recovery

From Supabase's pricing page and backup docs as they read on October 17, 2026.

  • $100/month

$100/month per 7 days of retention is what Supabase charges for Point-in-Time Recovery: about $100 for 7 days, $200 for 14 days and $400 for 28 days.

Source: Supabase, “Pricing”, as of October 17, 2026. Also: Supabase Docs, “Manage Point-in-Time Recovery usage”, as of October 17, 2026

Only Pro, Team and Enterprise projects can add it, and it requires at least the Small compute add-on.

  • Not included

Free-plan projects get no access to automatic backups: Supabase's pricing page lists them as "Not included" on Free, and its docs advise free projects to "regularly export their data using the Supabase CLI db dump command and maintain off-site backups."

Source: Supabase, “Pricing”, as of October 17, 2026. Also: Supabase Docs, “Database Backups”, as of October 17, 2026

Supabase says it does capture backups of Free projects but only makes them available on paid plans, so this means no access, not no backups.

  • 7 days

7 days of daily backups on Pro, 14 days on Team, and up to 30 days on Enterprise.

Source: Supabase Docs, “Database Backups”, as of October 17, 2026

Projects that turn on Point-in-Time Recovery stop getting daily backups.

  • 2 minutes

2 minutes is the worst-case recovery point objective (RPO) Supabase states for PITR.

Source: Supabase Docs, “Database Backups”, as of October 17, 2026

  • 15.8.1.079

Postgres 15.8.1.079 and newer is the cutoff: every Supabase project on those versions uses physical backups by default.

Source: Supabase Docs, “Database Backups”, as of October 17, 2026

  • No direct download

Physical backups, which Supabase uses by default on Postgres 15.8.1.079 and newer, can be used for restores but "are not available for direct download," according to Supabase's backup docs. For a copy you keep yourself, the docs point to a manual logical backup with the Supabase CLI or pg_dump.

Source: Supabase Docs, “Database Backups”, as of October 17, 2026

Older projects still on logical backups can download backup files, so don't shorten this to "Supabase backups can't be downloaded."

  • Older projects only

Supabase's docs say dashboard backups "are only available for older projects that still use logical backups"; projects on physical backups, the default on Postgres 15.8.1.079 and newer, are pointed to the Supabase CLI instead.

Source: Supabase Docs, “Restore Dashboard backup”, as of October 17, 2026

This is what the docs say; we haven't yet checked what the dashboard itself shows.

  • No Storage files

Supabase database backups don't include files stored through the Storage API, and restoring a backup takes the project offline for a time that grows with database size.

Source: Supabase Docs, “Database Backups”, as of October 17, 2026

Uptime and incidents

  • 99.9%

99.9% monthly uptime is Supabase's SLA commitment, and it applies only to Enterprise customers; service credits range from 10% to 30%.

Source: Supabase, “Service Level Agreement”, as of October 17, 2026

Uptime is as measured by Supabase, and total credits are capped at 20% of the fees paid over the previous 12 months.

  • 26

26 incidents plus 2 maintenance/notice entries were posted to Supabase's status page between September 1 and October 17, 2026, 20 of the incidents in September (own count from status-page history).

Source: Supabase, “Status page history”, as of October 17, 2026

  • 3 critical

3 critical and 3 major incidents appear among the 25 most recent posted between August 28 and October 12, 2026 (own count from the status API).

Source: Supabase, “Status page API (incidents.json)”, as of October 17, 2026

The API and the history page don't list exactly the same entries, and 25 incidents is too short a window to judge Supabase's overall reliability.

State of Startups 2026 survey

  • 2,000

2,000 startup builders answered Supabase's State of Startups 2026 survey, covering 2025 to 2026.

Source: Supabase, “State of Startups 2026”, as of October 17, 2026

Supabase ran this survey itself and doesn't say how it found respondents, so the sample likely leans toward its own users.

  • 49%

49% of respondents in Supabase's own 2026 survey picked Supabase when asked which databases their startup uses; 80% chose some form of Postgres.

Source: Supabase, “State of Startups 2026”, as of October 17, 2026

  • 65%

65% of respondents in Supabase's own 2026 survey listed Supabase among the cloud providers their startup uses, followed by Vercel (45%), Cloudflare (27%) and AWS (21%).

Source: Supabase, “State of Startups 2026”, as of October 17, 2026

  • 72%

In Supabase's own 2026 survey, 72% of respondents who answered the authentication question use Supabase Auth; the question was new this year.

How we built this list

Most numbers here come from Supabase itself: its announcements, docs, pricing page and status page. When a number only appeared in press coverage, the note says which outlet reported it. Live numbers such as GitHub stars and npm downloads were read from the official APIs on the date shown.

Survey percentages use the denominator the survey used, which is usually the people who answered that question rather than everyone who took the survey. The notes point this out where it matters.
